I will come back here after I graduate university with my bachelors and if it's god will, I will. I'm doing this for you, aaliyah the gwen to my arthur <33
Sylvester is now a Trauma Surgeon.
Immensely inspiring documentary, I'm heading on to start my last year of medical school in 3 days. Wish me Luck
this documentary has literally saved me throughout my academic career ever since i was a sophomore in high school. i am now currently a sophomore in university and every time i feel like giving up, i go to this video to remind me of what i am working towards to. regardless of whether or not i become a physician, i know it in my soul that i was meant to make an impact on the world through medicine. i am extremely grateful to have been able to come across this documentary.
why in loma linda students use pig's foot for suture practices, being the pig an unclean animal? minute 3:14 - 3:35, Isaiah 66:17
You want to donate your feet? Pigs are most comparable to human skin, that is why.
Lol not everybody is religious. And how else are they going to practice on realistic flesh? There aren’t human donors lined up for med students to practice on
Curious what makes a pig any less clean then a chicken, cow, horse, or even lamb?
I just finished my undergraduate and I was contemplating whether to go to medical school or not but after seeing this video I am more motivated to go to medical school. It’s hard but I think I can do it!!! I hope I start next year 😢🙏
Good luck! How is the application cycle going for you?
@@mayaholt4574 thank you So far it has been smooth and I have gotten many admissions
Don't pray to ask....... You'll get the wrong answe....
I dont know any of you but I am so proud of you all.... so proud. Thank you
Can’t wait to be one of these amazing folks one day. Just started M1. Will update y’all when I’m done.
yes please update us
Planning to start studying Medicine and after doing a degree in Biomedical Sciences.
Watched this as a premed then medical student and now as a senior resident. Have managed to cross paths with one of the students shown in this video. It's truly a blessing to have come this far.
Its like any other med school Full of nepotism and your commitment to SDA values and church bear practically no weight. Awesome program but hypocritical its why they always have disclaimers such as 'no adventist institution is perfect."
Might be shocking for you to learn, but not every medical student is religious. If you want church in your life go for it but of course the church has nothing to do with medical education. We learn to respect patients’ religions and work around treatments that their religion might not allow and that’s more than enough. And just because a student has family members in medicine it doesn’t mean they got into school using unfair means. It’s common to want to pursue a career after being exposed to it through other family members and it’s admirable to aspire to be like a family role model.
@@mayaholt4574 As a medical doctor myself I can assure you that it is not shocking that not every medical student is religious. I come from this religion and know the history of our church and medical mission. I said nothing about the church and medical education. You extrapolated that from what I said. My concern grows from the facts the SDA have an original mission of medical ministry running completely parallel to education. And that can only be preserved of ensured by matriculating those who have a sincere and demonstrated interest in that mission. In our church we have more than enough well qualified youth who would fit the mold of that original mission but alas we've soiled ourselves with secular esteems. With that said I can see from your response that you're quite unfamiliar with process altogether so I'll leave this here.
This sounds like trade school in a way. Drinking from a fire hose and never stopping for 10 weeks.
Don't necessarily agree with Lauren when she says "it's about getting the main facts." I want to stress there are small random details we need to learn for classes. Whether it's the precise trisomies the are viable through delivery, or which cranial nerves decussate, you have to grasp the main facts AND the high-yield details. The details become less important after boards, but they tend to be replaced in importance by other details (i.e. knowing that etomidate is relatively contraindicated in sepsis). Edit: just entering my M2 year now, and never once did I touch a microscope- all the histo stuff was online. Boy, how medical school changes.
Great video ...Laura is such a hottie 😍
Everybody is sharing their story in the comments so I would like to start my own: 9/2022 I have my first med school interview tomorrow. I’m really nervous 10/2022 I got waitlisted from one of my top three programs. It’s the first post interview decision I’ve gotten so it’s hard to stay positive when the first one isn’t a success. 11/2022 I got my first medical school acceptance! I’m so excited! 9/2023 wow med school is a lot. I get what they mean when they say the information never stops. It’s hard, but I passed my first round of exams with above class average scores. I’m excited to get further in
Congrats future doc!! 😃
hey can you share with us how your journey going as of now?
@@calamity1189 hey! Thanks for asking! I ended up getting 3 total acceptances and some waitlists that I withdrew from. One being the school I was waitlisted at during October. It is the same school that I went to in undergrad, a T25 school, and very near my home so I committed there. I’ve been doing all kinds of things to prepare to start school, traveling, and just relaxing. My school year begins in less than a month and I’m excited to see what the future holds! (6/2023)
I watched this documentary when I was in first year medical school for motivation and now after 7 years I am medical graduate starting my residency Some memories are really deeply touching bcoz I was totally different person and actually different situation . At that I was struggling with the hardest time in my life
I remember watching this like 4 years ago as an 8th grader, and it’s always stuck with me
This is true grit man. They deserve the fuckin best.
I watched this video 8 years ago. Right now, I’m starting M1 year. Woooooh!
When this video upload in 2011, i'm on my fourth undergraduate med student. Now, I just finished my residency in neurology.
Real film of real life stories
It’s good to see old friends.
These men are true heroes, hope Robert Norton is found.
My respects to his family, my thoughts are with you.
So sad, this man was a true hero, I once saw his Cessna 180 parked in the hangar at ciudad Bolívar in Venezuela. This was some time after he disappeared.
Have you reached out to Bob Edwards with this info? I can get you in touch with him
Hi Tim, no I have not. But certainly I would be happy to do so. I am currently living in the United States but will be back in Venezuela sometime this very year and I could do some research on Capitan Norton's case.
Actually, Mrs Gladys Zerpa, one of his passengers in his aircraft was the aunt of a long time friend of mine, that explains my particular interest in this incident.
@@mangomanster i would be very happy to do so.
@@tiendaforense Bob Edwards replied to me and said Bob had a different Cessna airplane at a hanger in the city where it was being repaired. His plane that missing, YV2480 is still missing
Thanks so much for this video, it really inspire me to become a Doctor since I have the intention to study Computer Science. Currently am waiting to join undergraduate medicine in Cairo University Egypt next academic year. Everything in this World is God's plan, so here am going to work on what God planed for me, because I remember in my childhood I treated my mam. Thanks Simon Kiir Peter😌😌😌
I wonder how they are all doing now!
The black couple is BOSSS
i come from 3 generations of MD's, but did not have the grade to get into med school. so now i travel the world. i do not believe in free will, i do not believe in god. but i do believe in epigenetic mutations same thing.
Right, you can’t see the finish line, but keep going guys!
How is this related to religion?

Says in the description. Loma Linda
I feel like this medical docu is a recruitment drive for people to follow GOD!!! MEDICAL PRACTICE IS SCIENCE!!!
From what I have heard, med school is no joke
9 years ago, I would watch this every morning and dream of being in medical school. Now, I'm in medical school. How life goes by.
how’s med school going ?
@@dimitrij8669 it’s tough man lol...not so much the material cuz the material itself is pretty straightforward, but they stack it on quite a bit (and by “quite a bit” I mean REAL LOT 😅). Sometimes it’s easy to forget about your health/outside life, as you know if you’re also in med school (and if you’re not in med school yet then you’ll find out). An upper-term student put it to me last week: medicine itself is pretty easy...it’s what it does to your life that’s hard
My brother Mark was an intern pilot with you he passed in an accident flying. Can you email me to update me im his sister if you have ever found Bob and family and passengers???
